The Sunpower Sr. Accountant position is a hands-on, finance professional that performs a variety of routine duties of an operational and accounting nature requiring some solo judgment. The ideal candidate must be highly organized, have excellent communication skills, and a proficient understanding of manufacturing accounting and government contract accounting related practices. This role reports to the AMT US Accounting Manager and dotted line to the Sunpower Business Maanager.

 

Key Responsibilitities:

The Sr. Accountant position will be responsible for the following activities:

  • Process month-end journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Complete ASC606 checklists and book revenue and COGS according to standards.
  • Prepare detailed variances analysis to budget, prior quarter and year.
  • Prepare weekly Sales & Margin, Working capital, unbilled and deferred revenue forecast.
  • Assist in preparing Annual Budget and Monthly rolling Forecast.
  • Maintain all aspects of projects module
  • Open to becoming an expert in Government Accounting by learning from Sunpower Government Accounting Consultant
  • Prepare monthly milestone and cost-plus invoices for government contracts.
  • Quarterly forecasting and annual preparation of government indirect rates
  • Review Engineering Sales proposals, contract requirements, and cost templates.
  • Coordinates cycle counts regularly and annual physical inventory; Maintain inventory records
  • Complete annual tax packages, labor surveys, Insurance requests.
  • Interface with outside/internal advisers and auditors related to compliance including SOX, Internal Audit and External Auditors.
  • Partner with the site’s General Manager and Operational managers to offer support with operational issues and promote growth.
  • SOX Reporting deliverables including account reconciliations, testing, process narratives and remediation of control deficiencies.
  • Collaborate with parent company to support other functions such as Sales Order management, Accounts Receivable, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Cost Accounting.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis as requested

 

Requirements for Consideration:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field

  • 5 years of Publicly traded company experience

  • Government Accounting experience is strongly preferred

  • Over Time Revenue Recognition experience is strongly preferred
  • Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder

  • Strong work ethic appetite for change, and change management

  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)

  • Experience with project and process costing analysis, financial forecasting, etc.

  • Must be able to prioritize, multitask as well as work independently.

  • Must be able to maintain quality of work and at the same time meet multiple deadlines as required.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and responsiveness to others.

  • Must be a strong communicator coupled with the ability to maintain open communication with customers, internal employees and managers as needed.

  • Exposure to SOX compliance.

  • Technical system knowledge such as ERP systems; Excel; Oracle, SAP, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) 

  • ASC 606 & revenue experience

  • Must be able to work independently and on multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet deadlines required. 

  • A collaborative and team-oriented mindset to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Salary Minimum:  $80,000
Salary Maximum:  $110,000
