Job Description: 

Position Summary:
Welding Expert to lead the and develop manual and semi-automatic Welding Operations. 
Provides manufacturing technical direction and technical assistance for new and existing products, including process design, facility layout, capital equipment, and tooling requirements manufacturing operations. 


Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Develop and Lead welding requirements for inhouse operations.
  • Managing welding procedure qualifications and generating welding procedures to help the manufacturing and welding teams.
  • Partner with Product Development to ensure the manufacturability of robust product designs.
  • Investigate welding related issues to improve product performance and increase productivity.
  • Work with vendors/suppliers on Welding Fixture design.
  • Develop repair procedures and assess flaws to determine the product’s fitness.
  • Develop standards, materials, weld joint design, and welding processes.
  • Program equipment and document proper procedures for operators.
  • Troubleshoot welding problems and provide corrective solutions.
  • Work with suppliers to optimize supplies and equipment.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • AWS Certified Welding Engineer or equivalent
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience in a welded product environment

 

Skills and EducationPreferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Welding Engineering or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in a build-to-order, consumer welded product environment
  • Proven success leading/executing large scale projects in the areas of production expansion, automation, integration and NPI.
  • Proven success in Lean Manufacturing environment and a thorough understanding/belief in Lean principles
  • Project Management experience
  • Computer savvy with typical software programs – e.g. Microsoft Suite
  • Analytical thinker and problem-solver
  • Excellent communication
  • Ability to create, design, and analyze blueprints and drawings
  • Knowledge of Metal Fabrication Processes. Bending, punching, coping, etc. 
  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
