Job Description:
The GSO Supplier Quality Engineer will be pivotal in AMETEK’s manufacturing process as he/she reviews engineering and manufacturing specifications and find the best vendors in the industry for the parts needed. The SQE flexes his/her extensive knowledge and interpersonal skills to provide cost-effective and quality solutions, through effective supplier identification, qualification, project implementation and performance monitoring.
Preproduction:
- Research and find the best vendors to supply materials needed for manufacturing process
- Conduct supplier quality control audits on a regular basis to ensure vendors and their supplies remain in compliance with company and federal manufacturing and production standards
- Maintain successful relationships with supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, production, and regulatory departments.
- Maintain documentation and reports from suppliers and for FAI process.
- Review engineering and manufacturing specifications to identify materials needed for product assembly for all manufactured goods.
- Contact vendors and liaise between product engineers, manufacturing, materials and procurement personnel and suppliers.
- Understand, execute, and interpret QMS audits as needed, including ISO 9001 and other industry standards (Including AS9100) driving resolution of findings identified.
- Manage FAI process by supporting and aligning resources to the FAI coordinator/technician, assure process has been executed and monitor its results. Drive improvement and problem resolution for on time delivery of FAI samples and compliance to AMETEK requirements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of supplier management programs.
Postproduction:
- Report Supplier performance and quality to management.
- Provide technical guidance, assistance and advise to LCR suppliers on process enhancement and suggestions to reduce defects on the material for the manufacturing process.
- Follow up on the solution to the corrective actions from LCR supplier issues. Lead problem solving related to incoming and MRB areas and participate in the solution of preventive and corrective actions of products and processes.
- Drive problem resolution for LCR supplier issues per business unit requests.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Supplier Quality Engineer or Supplier Development Engineer, with demonstrated interfacing with internal customers / suppliers on FAI/PPAP processes.
- Proven track record of results.
- Knowledge of readings, interpretation and understanding of specifications and engineering drawings
- Experience in and/or exposure to stamping, machining, sheet metal fabrication, molding, cable, and/or electronic assembly processes.
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering most prefer (Mechanical, Electrical and Mechatronic Engineering acceptable).
- Knowledge of QMS based in ISO standards, auditor preferred.
- Knowledge in Core tools, (APQP-PPAP, CP, PFMEA, MSA).
- Knowledge in problem solving technics, 8D, 5Whys, A3,
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written in English and in Spanish. Must have the ability to communicate clearly to customers in Business units and peers globally floor and those in middle management.
