Job Description: 

As an Quality Engineer, you will ensure compliance with customer quality requirements and company policy by analyzing customer specifications and developing appropriate programs and procedures. This position is responsible for monitoring, testing, and inspecting products to ensure they meet specified standards. Additionally, the role involves developing and maintaining our Quality Management System to guarantee that all products manufactured by the organization meet customer specifications, satisfy contract requirements, and achieve superior quality and reliability levels through Quality and Lean principles.

 

The Quality Engineer will:

  • Review customer contractual requirements and engineering to determine quality requirements.  Prepare quality and inspection plans, procedures and instructions to ensure that quality requirements are clearly defined and understood.
  • Review Engineering and Manufacturing information on new and revised design documents/specifications, production, tool, and test equipment drawings, production/tool plans, operation/routing sheets, and storage & shipping methods to ensure that products meet customers' requirements.
  • Initiate and develop quality assurance techniques (sampling plans, process controls, special gagging, etc.) to assure product quality.
  • Analyze and update quality documents within the quality system in accordance with the applicable specifications and policies.
  • Participate in the review and disposition of non-conforming materials.
  • Support Supply Chain and Quality teams to manage and control suppliers.
  • Work with vendors, customers, quality representatives, and company personnel to discuss and resolve quality problems as required.
  • Initiate and work with other functions on both internal and external corrective action requests to assure timely correction to deficiencies in procedures, processes, and/or design.
  • Lead and/or participate in the continuous improvement activities (Reduction of scrap, rework and customer returns) in order to effect reduction in cost and productivity.
  • Analyze & review inspection records, FAI report, discrepant material reports, customer returns and determine steps necessary to improve product quality.
  • Provide guidance and Quality-related training to all employees.
  • Ability to perform Internal Quality System Audits, Product & Processes audits per AS9100 and applicable standards.
  • Supports and works with HSC Quality & Engineering teams on Quality System and Engineering Activities.
  • Manage and maintain Quality Activities in Quality Laboratory tasks and records.
  • Manage and maintain Calibration System & Records.
  • Maintain Quality records, evaluate and report the quality and reliability data to internal functions and the HSC team as required.
  • Develop, Manage, and Control all applicable special processes and Nadcap Certification.
  • Must be comfortable in a dynamic environment with multiple and changing priorities.

 

Quality Engineer Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related engineering field (ME, IE, EE).
  • Must have 3+ years of experience in the quality engineering discipline.
  • Strong experience working in an AS9100/ISO9000 quality management system organization.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings of a complex nature.
  • Familiarity with problem-solving tools such as 8D and CAPA.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong communication skills (written/oral)
  • Demonstrated skills with PC office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Power Point, SharePoint and MS Teams.

 

 

Quality Engineer addtitional requirements:

  • American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Engineer preferred or equivalent.
  • A candidate with Aerospace or Defense Manufacturing experience who has strong experience working in an AS9100/ISO9000 quality management system organization.
  • Familiarity and working knowledge of general machining and plating processes. Preferred experience in Manufacturing processes. Familiarity with complex mechanical inspection and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing is a plus.
  • Understand and have a working knowledge of statistical process control.
  • Working knowledge of various MIL specs such as MIL-STD--45682, MIL-STD 105D, MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-1344, MIL-STD-790, etc.
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining quality programs for government and commercial customers.
  • Certified AS9100 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor is preferred.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
